Father Carlos Velazquez | Spiritual Minister

Fr. Carlos B. Velázquez is a Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. In his 33 years of priestly ministry, he has served in various capacities throughout San Antonio.

Fr. Carlos currently serves the Archdiocese of San Antonio as the Rector of San Fernando Cathedral, appointed by Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller on July 1, 2021.

As Rector, Fr. Carlos has been entrusted with the care of the Cathedral. In addition to the administration of the property and its maintenance, Fr. Carlos celebrates Mass, administers Sacraments and serves as the spiritual leader of the community, accompanying the faithful in their journey to Christ.

After his ordination in 1990, Fr. Carlos began his ministry as Parochial Vicar in the Catholic Communities of Gonzalez and Waelder and later at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. In 1992, Fr. Carlos led the Office of Vocations, first as Associate Director then as Director. From 2000 to 2021, he served as Pastor of various Catholic churches including St. John Berchmans, the Church of the Holy Spirit, Sts. Peter and Paul, and St. Thomas the Apostle.

In addition to his priestly ministry, Fr. Carlos is involved in many Catholic and civic organizations throughout San Antonio and the archdiocese. As founding Pastor of the LoveStrong Marriage Ministry, he is passionate about promoting, supporting and encouraging the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony leading couples to a clearer understanding of their relationship with each other and with God.

Fr. Carlos is an avid traveler and enjoys reading and spending time with his friends and family.
